Leaders often motivate, inspire and push you to become a better person, but who motivates leaders? While we can spend all the time we like practicing and becoming a better leader, without being motivated, your efforts are almost in vain.

To motivate their teams, staff and followers leaders need to remain motivated. Remaining motivated as a leader is relatively similar to everyone else. It comes down to ensuring your environment is supporting you and keeping you focused.

10 Tips to Stay Motivated as a Leader

    1. Be Real

Being a leader is hard. You can feel stressed, lost, alone and inadequate at times. As a leader, you need to be real and have people you can be vulnerable with. This will help you to remain authentic in the long run!

    2. Shorten Your Timeline

When the world is as chaotic as it is now, it can seem hard or even impossible to keep long term goals. The world is constantly changing, and it makes it hard to plan far ahead. Rather than putting undue stress on yourself, rather shorten your goal timeline. By setting these shorter goals you can feel a sense of achievement more often.

    3. Have a Safe Space

Safe spaces are a vital part of remaining motivated. Having a safe space to breathe, relax and let your hair down can help you to gain perspective. Cycling, hiking, running, reading, meditating and spending time away from social media are all safe spaces that help leaders find balance. Find your safe space and make it part of your daily life.

    4. Look After Yourself

Without your body, you could not be the leader you are today and strive to be tomorrow. Look after yourself by exercising often, eating well, sleeping well and maintaining your wellbeing. This will help you to become and better and more focused leader.

    5. Focus on Social Interactions

Social Interactions have been made even more difficult with the current Covid19 regulations and the way the world has been affected by this pandemic. Many of us who used to work in busy offices are now working in our homes. This makes social interactions more difficult, however, these interactions are crucial to remain motivated. Strike up thoughtful conversations through the methods you can, reach out to old friends and people who inspire you. These interactions can only benefit you and your mindset.

    6. Create New Challenges

Remaining challenged is what keeps you driven and pushing yourself to achieve more. Challenges can show you just how strong you are. Stay challenged by creating new challenges for yourself in every area of your life. Whether you want to run faster, read more, write better or even play a new instrument; these challenges can help keep you driven and motivated.

    7. Give Things Away

Giving is one part of life we can forget about. Whether you are giving time, money or things, the act of giving has been shown to improve your mood and your mindset. Give more.

    8. Have a Secret

This is probably one tip you have not heard before. Having a secret gives your control in a world where everything can seem chaotic. Having a secret project or a secret practice can help you to feel in control of your life.

    9. Adjust Daily Routine

Your daily routine can sometimes become monotonous. Monotony is the evil that can kill motivation. Try mixing up your routine by adding a new item to your agenda or waking up early. You will see the difference.

    10. Manage Your Social Media

Social Media is an amazing and powerful tool; however, it can also be destructive through negative content and hours of scrolling, The key is to manage your social media to include positivity, motivation and thought-provoking topics. The second key is to limit your time and exposure to keep you fresh. Use social media wisely!

Staying motivated as a leader may sound like a daunting task. However, it does not have to be if you remain consistent in these key areas of your life. If you manage your life and create a supportive environment, you can lead well and stay motivated.
