Speaking at a recent Cloud for Retail event in Cape Town, Linah Maigurira, Google’s retail industry manager for South Africa, explained that consumers are more curious, more demanding and more impatient than they’ve ever been before.
“Your customers are walking into your shop with an intent to buy and that intent is backed by knowledge. They’re visiting the mall with intention and they know what they want to purchase and from which store,” she said.
For retail businesses, adopting cloud proves a viable gateway to digital transformation. This is especially true as retailers transform from businesses that sell to businesses that solve customer problems. “More than many industries, retailers are acutely aware of how IT strategy and execution directly impact the customer experience and the bottom line. The high adoption and planned growth of hybrid cloud in retail show that retailers understand that hybrid is the best solution for keeping up with customer demands while keeping flexibility, security and costs in line,” says Chris Kozup, senior VP of global marketing at Nutanix.
