While cost savings are one of the key benefits of cloud, and are a huge win for every business, what cloud really allows businesses to achieve is cost efficiencies. While cost savings are all about reducing your spend, cost efficiencies focus on using your existing budget more effectively, which in the long run will bring about broad reductions in costs.
According to RightScale’s 2018 State of the Cloud report, some 92% of respondents are utilising public cloud services, an increase from 89% in 2017. And they’re not just “using” cloud, they’re using more cloud. The same report found that 71% of surveyed enterprises were planning to increase their public cloud spending by 20% or more and some 20% were planning to more than double their 2017 spending.
