3 Mobile Transformation Hurdles: Using mobile to power growth

By Nebula | Business Strategy, Digitalisation, Featured, Mobile, Telecoms Expense Management Software | 0 comment | 8 December, 2017 | 0

In 2018, ZDNet predicts that mobile will become core to digital ecosystems. McKinsey believes that mobile offers countless opportunities for profit and growth. And a 2016 study by Forrester Research explained how mobile was set to change the global business landscape.

While many businesses think that they’ve already checked the box on mobile, smart business leaders will take their mobile strategies a step farther in 2018. They are doing so because they to deliver experiences the next generation of consumers are looking for. This is a key step for any business looking to use mobile to grow.

McKinsey highlights three hurdles that all businesses must overcome on their mobile transformation journey:

Organisational inflexibility and siloed business processes: Innovation, technology and mobile shouldn’t only be a focus for your IT team. Your marketing, finance, customer service and logistics departments will benefit from mobile transformation and, thus, they should also be a part of digital initiatives. Consider how an automated telecoms expense management system that integrates with third-party billing software will make cost allocations easier for your business’ accounting team.

A shortage of digital talent: In successful organisations as much as 40% of total employees have an understanding of the digital landscape and have the skills to go along with it. Digital isn’t only changing the roles of tech-focused employees like the CIO or IT manager, it’s changing everyone’s job. Employees across all departments need to have basic digital skills and competencies to truly embrace digital innovations and mobile transformation.

A lack of visible support from the leadership team: Employees follow the example of business leaders. This makes it critical for executives to become personally invested in digital initiatives. In doing so, they set a positive precedent for broad cultural change.

Becoming a mobile-savvy organisation requires significant effort from everyone in your business. If you’re keen to make your mobile transformation as successful as possible, it’s important to keep up with all the latest happenings in the telecoms and business space.
