Location: Western Cape
Nebula seeks a candidate to take on the challenging role of Information Systems Manager. The ideal candidate would have the following required experience, competencies and skills:
Job Summary:
Responsible for overall Information Systems infrastructure for the organization, including but not limited to the management of people, hardware, software, communication devices, network and data management. This includes contributing to organizational policy regarding quality standards and strategic planning. The IS Manager will help formulate ways to improve IT services, whether performance enhancing, cost reduction, scaling and disaster recovery.
At the highest level, the IS Manager is responsible for ensuring that the IS department provides not only quality IS support to the business, but contributes to the production of client-facing value added products and services, in line with the business requirements.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Effectively manage the IS department: that is, plan, lead, organize and control the day to day operations, projects and provide the required levels of support and customer satisfaction to the business
- Adds value to the business and helps contribute towards a competitive advantage in the IS Domain
- Manage and mentor individual team members
- Maintains KPI’s of the IS department in line with the Balanced Scorecard
- Oversees installation, troubleshooting, systems backups, archiving, network security, disaster recovery and provides expert support when necessary
- Builds and maintains vendor relationships and manages the purchase of hardware and software
- Formulates approaches and deliver technology-based solutions that achieve desired business objectives, including defining system scope and objectives
- Partners with management to assess the technological cost and impact of recommended changes, help clarify priorities and coordinate cross-organizational needs
- Monitors performance against service level agreements with service providers to ensure targeted performance is met
- Manage internal performance against internal service level agreements with the business
- Recommends and implements IS solutions consistent with the organizational strategy, to meet business process requirements within all divisional functions
- Coordinates with management on IS strategy and project prioritization
- Ensure security and integrity of data, data system and data networks across the entire organization
- Designing and implementing disaster recovery processes and business continuity procedures for re-establishing servers, databases, and operating systems in the event of a disruption, both minor and catastrophic
- Perform and analyze disaster simulations for the prompt restoration of services, and conduct security audits where required
- Acts as a liaison for all information technology systems
- Assists in the planning and implementation of additions, deletions and major modifications to the supporting infrastructure
- Oversee all help desk activities nationally
- Responds to escalated help desk issues by interacting with internal clients on all levels to help resolve IS related issues and provides answers timely
- Works with project teams to help implement internal systems
- Provides regular communication to management and staff on IS issues/projects.
- Other duties as assigned
Additional Responsibilities:
- Coordinates training opportunities to ensure staff are current with IS policy and systems
- Recruit, train, supervise and evaluate department staff
Supervisory Duties:
- Responsible for overseeing the IS Department.

- General understating of various technologies and technical concepts that could include: application programming, database design, system design, internet and web presence or client/server architectures
- Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively with others internally and externally
- Outstanding presentation skills with proven experience delivering formal presentations to various levels of management.
- High-level of negotiation skills with the ability to find successful resolutions for highly complex and/or unique issues.
- Exceptional organization skills with the ability to drive departmental project objectives through to completion, and motivate others accordingly
- Work requires flexibility as the occasional weekend and/or evening work may be necessary
Qualifications And Experience Required:
- Suitable degree in Information Technology and/or Computer Science
- Minimum 8-10 years of professional experience in the field
- Minimum 5 years experience managing a department or team
- Previous experience in a professional services firm will be advantageous
- Experience in managing agile-based projects a plus, but not necessary
